A field demonstration has used a coordinated autonomous drone swarm to intercept another swarm by forming a three-dimensional barrier in its path.
At the US Army’s T-REX exercise, Lockheed Martin demonstrated its Coordinated Autonomous Remote Intercept system. Radar detects an incoming swarm and passes tracking information to onboard autonomy software, which launches multiple defensive UAVs and coordinates them into a spatial wall intended to block the attackers in real time. The demonstration moves swarm coordination from formation experiments toward an operational adversarial setting.
