Collective-behaviour researcher Iain D. Couzin will deliver a public lecture in Geneva on 4 November 2026 examining how groups of animals coordinate and make decisions.
The talk draws on swarming locusts, schooling fish, flocking birds and human crowds to explain how limited individual information can produce collective sensing, coordinated movement and rapid group decisions. Couzin will discuss research methods including automated tracking, reconstructions of animal perception and immersive virtual reality. The lecture takes place at Uni Dufour at 18:30 local time, with free admission and simultaneous interpretation in English and French.
